Elers Medical® blank is a zirconium dioxide disс with a diameter of 98,5 mm and 95 mm, manufactured in following variants:
White opaque (identity code - «TZ»)
Transparent («Translucent», identity code - «T»)
Highly Transparent («High Translucent», identity code – «HT»)
Multi Layered («Multi Layered», identity code – «ML»)
Quantity of VITA-scale shades – up to 16.
Thickness of ML blanks: 14, 18, 22 mm.

As a rule, multilayered (ML) product consists of four layers with color shades as per the VITA scale and smooth gradients from transparent-white to dark-brown shades.
Example:
An ML A Light (A1 – A3,5) product consists of four layers with A1 - A2 - А3 - A3.5 color shades that are in a constant sequence throughout the height of a unit. The first layer and the last occupy 35% of the workpiece height, with intermediate ones occupying 15% each. These shades are created by use of powders and additives based on Zpex Smile - super translucent materials. This means that these layers are A1HT (High Translucency) - A2HT - A3HT - A3.5HT.
The products designated as ML A Dark (A1-A3.5) are also four-layered but each layer consists of powders and additives based on Zpex - translucent materials, designated with letter T (Translucency): A1T - A2T - A3T - A3.5T.

Translucency
Blanks designated with H and HT markings are used for dental restoration and thus are of variable degree of translucency. These are based on Zpex and ZpexSmile powder charts.
Restorations can vary based on different transparency degree requirement, dependent on technological sintering compliance during the final heat treatment process.

In order to get accurate transparency value it is necessary to follow the recommended measure procedure and use such equipment:
1. Light absorption measuring instrument: Hazemeter NDH2000 (Nippon Denshoku Industries Co. Ltd).
2. Light source: Standard Illuminant D65
3. Spectrophotometer: UV/Vis/NIR Spectrophotometer V-650 (JASCO Corp.)
4. Sample : >φ10mm x 1mmt (polished by 3μm diamonds until scratches disappear )

For reasons given above the light absorption measuring is a labor-intensive cost-based task and it`s digital value is conditional.
